By booking a tour with Visit Sumatran Orangutan, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before making a reservation.
1. Booking & Confirmation
To secure your booking, a 30% deposit of the total tour price is required at the time of reservation. Payment instructions will be provided during the booking process.
Your booking is considered confirmed once the required deposit has been received and a confirmation has been issued by Visit Sumatran Orangutan.
2. Payment
To secure your booking, a 30% deposit of the total tour price is required. The deposit must be paid via Wise, and payment details will be provided upon confirmation of your booking.
The remaining balance is to be paid in cash upon arrival in Bukit Lawang, unless otherwise agreed in advance.
Please note that your booking is only confirmed once the deposit has been received.
3. Cancellation Policy
3.1 By the Guest
Cancellation requests must be made in writing to our e-mail: info@visitsumatranorangutan.com.
The deposit paid at the time of booking is non-refundable, regardless of the date of cancellation. This deposit secures your reservation and covers administrative and planning costs associated with your tour.
Any additional payments made beyond the deposit may be eligible for a refund at our discretion, depending on the circumstances and any costs already incurred.
3.2 By Visit Sumatran Orangutan
In the unlikely event that we need to cancel a tour due to safety concerns, extreme weather, government restrictions, or other circumstances beyond our control, guests will receive a full refund of any payments made directly to Visit Sumatran Orangutan.
4. Changes to Itineraries
Jungle conditions, weather, wildlife activity, river levels, and other factors may require changes to planned routes or itineraries.
Our guides will always make decisions with guest safety and environmental responsibility as the highest priority.
5. Wildlife Encounters
We operate in a natural rainforest environment where all wildlife is free-ranging.
While orangutan sightings are common, we cannot guarantee sightings of any specific animal.
Guests must follow all guide instructions regarding wildlife interactions and maintain respectful behavior towards animals and their habitat.
6. Health & Fitness
Guests are responsible for ensuring they are physically capable of participating in the chosen trek.
Please inform us before departure of any relevant medical conditions, allergies, dietary requirements, or physical limitations.
We reserve the right to modify trekking routes or activities if deemed necessary for guest safety.
7. Safety
Guest safety is our highest priority.
Participants must follow the instructions of guides at all times during the trek.
Failure to comply with safety instructions may result in removal from the tour without refund if the behavior puts the guest, other participants, wildlife, or guides at risk.
8. Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend that all guests purchase comprehensive travel insurance covering:
- Medical expenses
- Emergency evacuation
- Personal accidents
- Trip cancellation
- Lost or damaged belongings
Guests are responsible for arranging their own insurance coverage.
9. Limitation of Liability
Visit Sumatran Orangutan shall not be held liable for:
Personal injury
Illness
Loss or damage of personal belongings
Delays caused by transportation providers
Weather-related disruptions
Events beyond our reasonable control
Participation in jungle trekking activities involves inherent risks associated with outdoor adventure travel.
10. Force Majeure
We are not responsible for cancellations, delays, or modifications caused by circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to:
- Natural disasters
- Floods
- Landslides
- Extreme weather
- Government actions
- Political unrest
- Pandemics
- Transportation disruptions
11. Environmental Responsibility
We are committed to responsible and ethical tourism.
Guests are expected to respect wildlife, local communities, and the natural environment by:
Not feeding wildlife
Not leaving litter
Following guide instructions
Respecting conservation regulations within Gunung Leuser National Park
We reserve the right to modify routes or wildlife viewing opportunities if necessary to protect animals, guests, or the environment.
12. Photography & Marketing
During tours, photographs and videos may occasionally be taken for promotional purposes.
If you do not wish to appear in promotional material, please inform us before the tour begins.
