Tour Itinerary
Day 1
Upon arrival at Medan Airport, or from your accommodation in Medan, you will be greeted by our team and transferred to Bukit Lawang. The journey takes approximately 3–4 hours and offers a glimpse of everyday life in North Sumatra as you travel through villages, plantations, and lush landscapes.
After checking in to your accommodation, you will meet your certified local guide for a trek briefing and an opportunity to ask any questions. Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to relax by the river, explore the village, or spend the evening with locals enjoying music, conversation, and the laid-back atmosphere of Bukit Lawang.
Day 2
After breakfast, your adventure begins as you leave Bukit Lawang behind and enter the rainforest of Gunung Leuser National Park. Our guides carefully select routes away from the busiest trails, allowing you to experience a quieter and more authentic side of the jungle.
Throughout the day, you’ll search for orangutans and other wildlife while learning about the rainforest from your guide. After enjoying lunch and fresh tropical fruits in the jungle, you will continue trekking to your riverside campsite where a refreshing swim, a freshly prepared dinner, and an evening under the stars await.
Day 3
Wake up to the sounds of the rainforest and enjoy breakfast before setting off around 8:00 AM for another day of exploration. Today’s route takes you deeper into the jungle, with steeper terrain, rewarding viewpoints, and some of the most spectacular scenery of the trek.
When the trail becomes challenging, ropes and jungle vines help along the way, and your guides are always there to lend a hand. Enjoy a local lunch overlooking the rainforest before continuing your search for wildlife. You may hear the haunting calls of gibbons echoing through the trees, spot a hornbill flying overhead, or encounter other fascinating jungle creatures.
By mid-afternoon, you will arrive at your second campsite located beside the Bohorok River. Take a refreshing swim, relax by the water, and enjoy another freshly cooked dinner by candlelight before spending the evening sharing stories, playing cards, and gazing at the incredible night sky.
Day 4
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast surrounded by the rainforest before choosing how to spend your final morning in the jungle. If you still have energy for adventure, you can join a short 3-hour trek to search for wildlife one last time and explore more of the surrounding forest.
Alternatively, spend the morning relaxing at camp, swimming in the river, and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. After lunch, it’s time for one of Bukit Lawang’s most enjoyable traditions: the “Jungle Taxi.” Hop aboard a traditional rafting tube and float down the Bohorok River back towards civilization.
Arriving back in Bukit Lawang in the early afternoon, you’ll have time to unwind, revisit your favorite spots in the village, or simply reflect on the unforgettable experiences of the past few days.
Day 5
After breakfast, we will arrange your transfer back to Medan Airport or your accommodation in Medan. To ensure a comfortable journey, we recommend flights departing after 2:00 PM.
If you’d like to continue exploring Sumatra, we can also assist with transportation to destinations such as Berastagi, Lake Toba, or other parts of the island. Simply let us know your plans, and we’ll be happy to help arrange the next stage of your adventure.
