Our team are locals who have spent their whole life in the jungle and rivers of Bukit Lawang, Sumatra. Our guides are certified by the Indonesia Tourist Guides Association (ITGA-HPI Himpunan Pramuwisata Indonesia). They are passionate to talk about the rainforest they call part of their home. Our team are more than happy to share their knowledge, personal experiences, and stories from life in the jungle icluding the increadable orangutans, making every journey both meaningful and unforgettable.
We focus on small, private groups to create a more personal and immersive jungle experience. This allows you to truly connect with the rainforest in a calm and natural way. Our Story: Born in the Rainforest
Hi! I’m Satria, born and raised in Bukit Lawang and the founder of Visit Sumatran Orangutan. I have been working as a certified jungle guide in Bukit Lawang and Gunung Leuser National Park for over 10 years, sharing the rainforest with travelers from all over the world while learning from the jungle itself.
After many years as a guide, I started Visit Sumatran Orangutan with a clear mindset. For me, the rainforest is not a tourist attraction, but a living home for wildlife, including the incredible orangutans, and it must always be treated with respect.
That vision is the foundation of Visit Sumatran Orangutan. Today, we are a small local team of certified guides who share the same values. We create treks that follow the rhythm of nature, focusing on ethical, meaningful, and responsible experiences in the jungle.
We specialize in small and private groups so our guests can truly experience the real jungle: to hear it, feel it, and connect with it without crowds or distractions. As we like to say: in the jungle, we are not the main characters… we’re just guests in someone else’s home.
