Tour Itinerary
Day 1
Your jungle adventure begins at around 8:00 AM as your local English-speaking guides come and pick you up from your accommodation. Together you set off directly into Gunung Leuser National Park with your guides. Our experienced guides carefully choose routes away from crowds, giving you a more authentic experience of the rainforest and its untouched surroundings.
During the trek, you will search for wildlife such as orangutans and other jungle animals while learning about the ecosystem from your guide. Enjoy a freshly prepared lunch and tropical fruits in the middle of the jungle, and take in breathtaking viewpoints over the rainforest before arriving at your riverside campsite around 3–4 PM.
In the evening, you can cool off with a swim in the river next to the camp before enjoying a freshly cooked dinner under the stars. After dinner, relax with your guides, listen to their jungle stories, and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the rainforest. Maybe even a card game or a small magic trick before bedtime.
Day 2
After breakfast, your second day of trekking begins as you continue deeper into the rainforest with your guide. You will explore remote jungle trails, search for orangutans and other wildlife, and experience the rich biodiversity of Gunung Leuser National Park.
A freshly prepared lunch and tropical fruits will be enjoyed in the middle of the jungle. In the afternoon, you will arrive at your riverside jungle camp where you can relax, swim in the river, and enjoy a freshly cooked dinner under the stars before another night surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.
Day 3
After breakfast, the trek continues through more challenging terrain, taking you up and down lush jungle-covered hills and deeper into untouched rainforest. Keep your eyes open for wildlife along the way. If you’re lucky, you might even spot tiger footprints or other rare signs of jungle life.
Lunch is served in the jungle with breathtaking views over Gunung Leuser National Park. In the afternoon, you will arrive at your final jungle camp located along the Bohorok River. You’ll have time to take a swim in the crystal clear water. The evening is spent enjoying a freshly prepared dinner by candlelight, relaxing, and sharing stories before your last night in the rainforest.
Day 4
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast surrounded by the rainforest before choosing how to spend your final morning in the jungle. If you still have energy for adventure, you can join a short 3-hour trek to search for wildlife one last time and explore more of the surrounding forest.
Alternatively, spend the morning relaxing at camp, swimming in the river, and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. After lunch, it’s time for one of Bukit Lawang’s most enjoyable traditions: the “Jungle Taxi.” Hop aboard a traditional rafting tube and float down the Bohorok River back towards civilization.
Arriving back in Bukit Lawang in the early afternoon, you’ll have time to unwind, revisit your favorite spots in the village, or simply reflect on the unforgettable experiences of the past few days.
