Planning a jungle trip to Bukit Lawang? We have gathered the most frequently asked questions to help you prepare for your next adventure

Is it safe?

Yes, trekking in Bukit Lawang and Gunung Leuser National Park is generally very safe when done with experienced local guides. Our guides prioritize your safety at all times and are trained to handle jungle conditions and emergencies.

The trek is considered moderate to challenging depending on the duration and weather conditions. You should be in reasonable physical condition and comfortable walking in humid, uneven jungle terrain.

However, the trekking experience can be adjusted based on your fitness level and preferences. Our local guides can adapt the pace, route, and duration to ensure you fully enjoy your jungle trekking experience while feeling comfortable and safe throughout the journey.

Yes, children are welcome on certain treks, especially shorter treks. We recommend discussing this with us in advance so we can tailor the experience to your family’s needs.

Besides orangutans, you may encounter Thomas leaf monkeys, gibbons, macaques, hornbills, monitor lizards, and a wide variety of birds and insects. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, as this is their natural habitat.

Our treks typically include a certified local guide, jungle permits, meals, drinking water, and camping equipment for overnight treks. Exact inclusions may vary depending on which tour you choose.

Fresh, locally prepared meals are included, often consisting of Indonesian dishes such as rice, vegetables, noodles, and fruit. We can usually accommodate vegetarian and dietary requirements if informed in advance.

On overnight jungle treks, you will sleep in simple camps set up inside Gunung Leuser National Park, surrounded by the untouched jungle. You’ll fall asleep in a basic shelter under the stars, with the sounds of the jungle all around you. A rare and unforgettable experience that very few people ever get to have.

Yes, safe drinking water is provided at the campsites. We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle.

No, there is no electricity in the jungle camps. We recommend bringing a fully charged power bank for your devices.

Mobile signal is very limited or non-existent in most parts of the jungle. This is part of the experience of disconnecting and immersing yourself in nature.

Our guides are trained in basic first aid and will assist you immediately. In case of more serious issues, evacuation procedures to the nearest medical facility will be arranged as quickly as possible.

To confirm your booking, a 30% deposit is required at the time of reservation. Once the deposit has been received, your booking is officially confirmed.

The remaining balance is paid in cash on arrival in Bukit Lawang before the tour begins. Payment details for the deposit will be provided during the booking process.
