Trip Details

Pick-up in airport or medan city & meet and greet local guide

day 1

We will pick you up from the airport or your hotel in Medan. From the airport, we will drive approximately 4 hours by car to Bukit Lawang.
Upon arrival in Bukit Lawang, you will check in at the hotel we have arranged for you.

We want this tour to feel relaxed and personal. We look forward to getting to know you and welcoming you into our warm and friendly culture.
During the orientation, we will provide important information about the tour, especially preparations for the orangutan trekking adventure

First Day Jungle Trek

Day 2

From the hotel, we will walk towards Gunung Leuser National Park, the gateway to the Sumatran rainforest where our trekking adventure begins.
We will start at 7:30 AM after breakfast. The walk takes approximately 30 minutes, passing through local plantations before reaching the entrance of the national park.

Encounter orangutan

day 2

From the entrance of the national park, we will venture into the dense rainforest and follow the trails to check fruiting trees inside the jungle. Most wildlife here are fruit eaters, including orangutans, monkeys, and various bird species.
This is the wild, so there is no 100% guarantee of encountering orangutans. However, we will do our best to guide you in finding them during the trek.

lunch at the jungle restaurant

Day 2

A full-day trek usually lasts up to 8 hours, depending on the weather conditions and the physical endurance of the participants. During the trek, we will also enjoy lunch in the jungle. We will serve fried rice along with fresh tropical fruits to recharge and keep you energized for the adventure.

arrived at the camping site

day 2

We will arrive at the campsite in the afternoon. Our campsite is a bamboo building equipped with sleeping mats, mosquito nets, blankets, and pillows. At the campsite, there is already a team waiting who will prepare dinner and breakfast for the next morning. The location is very peaceful, surrounded by trees, and still situated deep within the forest.

Jungle Style Dinner

Day 2

This is a dinner you can only experience while trekking through the jungles of Sumatra. We call it a “jungle-style dinner” — an evening meal in the heart of the rainforest, lit by romantic candlelight, accompanied by the sounds of nocturnal animals and the darkness of the forest. Traditional dishes will be served, making it one of the most special dinners you’ll ever have.

Second day trek & Traditional rafting back to hotel

day 3

During this second day trek, we will not return to the hotel via the same trail. Instead, our route will lead us to the Bohorok River, where we will enjoy traditional rafting. We will arrive at the hotel in approximately 30 minutes.

Tour End, Drop-off to Airport

Day 4

We are truly grateful for your visit to our village, and we hope you had a wonderful time and enjoyed every moment of this tour.
Today, we will escort you back to the airport or your hotel in Medan.
